This year's theme:
Behind the Scenes with Chemistry

We offered a day of hands-on chemistry experiments for kids in one of the zoo's open areas.

College students from all over the Southland were at the zoo to assist kids with hands-on science. Twelve college groups participated this year, with each group offering a different set of experiments. These ranged from Alka Seltzer rockets to liquid nitrogen ice cream (with samples)! It must be said that the college students helping the children with experiments had as much fun as the little kids! A great role modeling experience for both groups. We also offered a science show, Rudy's Radical Science, which had an attendance of 250-300 people!

We were able to continue our program of free zoo admission to families of Santa Ana and Tustin in 2010. Our annual event was our biggest ever! 2537 people attended (our largest total ever), of whom close to half were children between 3 and 12. Of those, 1135 requested free admission, and 581 of those were children.
